The science behind Schwerdtle’s long time success and innovation stems from two factors:
The metal backing surface goes through a multistep process. These steps are the secret to a wide array of industrial uses and material characteristics that put our solutions a step above the competition.
Silicone-to-metal bonding is not based on a glue; it is a mechanical and chemical process that creates a bond at the molecular level during the manufacturing (vulcanization) process.
The process includes both mechanical and chemical preparation of the substrate, prior to the silicone being applied. The products then go into special press ovens at high temperatures under hundreds of tons of pressure. The result of this bonding process is a tough, durable bond between the silicone and the aluminum or steel backing.
In fact, the bond is so tough that you are more likely to tear the silicone or bend the metal than to break the bond. Why did we develop this process? Because silicone is notoriously difficult, if not impossible to glue to, resulting in poor adhesion and a high likelihood of product failure.
That won’t happen with a Schwerdtle bonded product.
