Martha moved to the USA in 2006 from Mexico, she was visiting family and studying at a local university. Martha got her introduction to Schwerdtle when she offered to help solve an ongoing database administration issue as a friendly favor. Shortly after, a job opportunity opened at Schwerdtle. Martha applied for a position in our Art Department and even though she did not have specific training in the various graphic design software we use, she did come to us with a great attitude, a quiet confidence, the ability to speak Spanish and a degree in Computer Engineering and Data Management expertise. We loved her from the start. We could teach the technical art skills necessary to do the job, but Martha brought her positive attitude and problem solving tools that we knew could add real value to our many customers, including those in Mexico and Central and South America. We were right and very quickly Martha became an important part of the Schwerdtle family.
In 2014, we sent Martha to an intensive training program in LEAN where she became a Certified Continuous Improvement Champion. Today, in addition to helping customers with their orders, Martha provides leadership to our Kaizen Improvement Teams as we strive to streamline production, reduce waste and improve quality. She loves her job because it presents constant opportunities to learn and to help others including both customers and co-workers.
